This past Saturday was to work on Speed. I had 40 laps on the track and try to run each lap under 2:25. Well, at first I was scared of the speed since I am not a fast runner at all. It almost seemed unrealistic to me but the laps weren't back to back I had recovery time between each lap. When it was time to run the time was the least of my concerns....the winds have been blowing like crazy and my allergies as shitty as can be! So miserable and all I got up and hit the track!
There were some kids from the track team practicing so I decided to take on Lane 9 to my surprise I started off very good. I was able to hit the laps under the time I even had my fastest mile under 8min and then.....the winds started again so that slowed me down, it was hot and windy and my allergies = not mess and not a good run. My ipod ended up dying on me at about mile 6/7 so after that I am not sure what my pace was but the first 6 I was able to run under the 2:25. I took a little more rest time on the last 2 miles and by when I started on my last mile my ITB was hurting. I'm thinking it was the run stop that did it.
To conclude my Saturday run....hot+winds+allergies=not the best run. But it got done ended up with a little over 10 miles. I hope the weather is better on Saturday and these allergies are gone because I'm ready to run and feel good!
Side Note: The Surf City Marathon is this Sunday I'm kind of glad now that I won't be running it since I have been suffering severe allergies since last Friday I have even missed bootcamp yesterday and today.
